Character Information
Name: Vladmir Ionescu (Vova or Vlad)
Canon Origin/Series: Axis Powers Hetalia
School Year: Seventh Year
Gender: Male
Age: 17
Out of school living location: Bucharest, Romania
Blood status: Halfblood
Personality: Being raised in a very culturally diverse area, Romania is a very tolerant and understanding person and nation. He doesn’t discriminate when it comes to the person’s family or friends. This tolerance stops, however, when regarding Hungarians. When reacting to something Hungarian, he becomes impatient and rude, wanting to finish the subject or break the object in question or just get out of there. In the undesirable event that the runs into a Hungarian, shouting and fighting is sure to come after, and whether or not it remains verbal depends on the Hungarian he argues with. Romania can also be slightly vindictive when spurned.
He isn’t a very studious person, only really focusing on the subjects he likes, slacking off anything else. He prefers, instead, to hang out with Bulgaria or prank Hungary or eat. Or a combination of the three. Romania also greatly enjoys venturing out and exploring, especially the places he’s not supposed to explore.
Romania has an oddly cheerful disposition, even when talking about the most gruesome of subjects. He’s unable to read others reactions to his words, not noticing the effects they have on people; he isn’t malicious, he’s just oblivious. In the Christmas 2011 strips, he was seen causing Bulgaria to physically tremble with fear at the gruesomeness of his stories, Romania looking just as cheerful as if he were speaking of a wedding. Romania’s obliviousness and nonchalance often come across as sarcasm, and that’s really just his sense of humor. He jokes about dark things often, and while some people suggest that he’s perhaps just hiding fear, he really just likes to joke about things that tend to make others squirm – once again, not TO make them squirm, they just happen to coincide. Yes, he’s that kid in the class that makes silly and sarcastic comments at every chance he can, and when it’s not funny, it’s just pushy.
This nonchalance of his spreads into the way he reacts to his everything. Broke? Relief will come. Sick this morning? You’ll be better tomorrow. It’s raining during a football match? Wear some goggles, you’ll see just fine. While some may just see it as being just another one of his annoyingly cheerful traits, in truth, it’s a long Romanian state of mind – although usually much less cheerful. Romanians have always just looked to tomorrow, hardships don’t matter today, “there’s always a tomorrow, something better will come.” And while most of his people take this on with a grim face, Romania takes hardships with a smile. He does lose his easy-going attitude when it comes to one thing, though. Being bested by a Hungarian (especially Hungary herself!). If such an event were to occur, he would throw a tantrum for an hour, then stomp around for a few days. If he were to win something against a Hungarian, however, he would gloat for days, mentioning his win far more than is necessary.
Romania’s obsession with black magic and folklore brings him to an obsession with gypsies, as well, and it’s borderline hypnotizing, despite having always been taught that gypsies were thieving monsters. On the flip side, he only truly shows his inner romantic when speaking of old Romanian fairytales, especially the tale of the fairy Princess Ileana Cosanzeana, and because of this, he can be slightly melodramatic, happy ends and romance for all. His eccentricities contradict, and this can make him somewhat pushy and annoying to certain types of people. Although sometimes his contradictory nature is seen as endearing to others and is becomes his redeeming factor.
Canon Background: http://hetalia.wikinet.org/wiki/Romania
Background (AU!Canon; HP): [200 word minimum. This is the place to put their backstory, as well as what classes they excel in, etc.] Paranormal! Vladmir’s mother was born a pureblood from a very long, aristocratic line of wizards and witches, but broke that line when she married a very muggle man. His father, though being a muggle, was always very interested in the occult, struggling to prove its existence through art and literature. In fact, he spent all of his time and money on research and travel, living primarily in hostels. When Vova’s parents married, his mother lost her entire dowry and all financial support from her parents, leaving the young couple broke. When Vladmir was born, they both began to focus on getting jobs and raising money to send him off to Hogwarts, where his mother, and her family, have been going for generations. His father’s interest in the occult aroused his interest, as well, and a younger Vladmir greatly enjoyed celebrating old pagan holidays and spending long trips with his father, taking trains to old castles and ruins. When Vladmir’s brother was born, it was quickly noticed that he was a squib. This caused his mother to decide to run the household using as little magic as possible, raising both Vova and his brother with all the amenities of a muggle that they could afford: a TV, one household computer, et cetera. At eleven, Vladmir was shipped off to Hogwarts, having to go to London and buy all of his supplies with the help of a distant cousin of his mother’s. At Hogwarts, he particularly excels in Herbology, Ancient Runes, and Flying. He enjoys – but is only decent at – Dueling, DADA, Charms, Transfiguration, and Care of Magical Creatures. His least favorite classes include Magical Languages, History of Magic, Arithmancy, and Potions. Vova is also an anemic, giving him very pale skin with dark under eye circles, and a ravenous appetite and a tendency to over sleep. Even when he awake, it takes several cups of coffee or tea to get him truly out of bed, and a large breakfast to convince him that class is worth it. Apptivity!
How would your character fit in to each House?
This does not guarantee any House placement, it is more for moderators to consider.]
Gryffindor: Being a somewhat naively oblivious person, Vova has a tendency to rush headfirst into situations that he isn’t prepared for, or in retrospect, wouldn’t have rushed into had he thought about it beforehand. He has a strong hate for bullying, especially bullying based on familial statuses, and jumps in to help, regardless of whether or not it’s really a good idea for someone as frail as he is at times. While not a “hero” in any sense, his sense of justice forces him to do what he must to see that everything is as it should be.
Hufflepuff: As stated before, Vova has a very strong sense of right and wrong, being especially protective of friends and family, and those who are like him and come from a mixed family. His sense of right and wrong can make him act very angrily at times, however, and when spurned Vladmir reacts violently. Vova is, at heart, a very kind soul, treating animals and even plants with respect, even though he says very silly, and sometimes scary, things. Vladmir has a great trust and loyalty for his friends, desiring their happiness, along with his, above all else. Vova gets along with most people, provided that they’re not Hungarians, and is very easy going and laid back.
Ravenclaw: While Vladmir isn’t the most studious of people, he is very witty and clever. He enjoys riddles, even though they sometimes take him ages, but he will not relent until he has the answer. This would give him a bit of trouble with getting into the Ravenclaw dorms, though, as he tends to take a day or two depending on the riddle.
Slytherin: Vladmir has a very strong love of the occult, and this gives him a very strong interest in the dark arts. While he finds the dark arts interesting, however, he has no desire to dabble in them, other than just reading and studying about them. While a generally nice guy, when spurned, he can be quite cunning and backhanded.

3RD PERSON SAMPLE 1:
Vladmir watched the sun rise through the library's tall, old windows. The splashes of orange and red and light blue and pink lining the tree line made his too-sensitive eyes squint just a bit. But, like the sick bastard he could tend be, he stood there, one hand on the heavy velveteen curtain, staring at the sunlight before he could take it no more.
Lovino was late. Again.
When he could finally no longer take it, he released the curtain, letting it swing closed, light skittering across the floor until finally cutting out, the Romanian's eyes adjusting to the much more amenable dark.
He sat at the table, letting out a slight sigh. He supposed he shouldn't seem so cross, Lovino was hardly ever on time - least of all so early in the morning! Vladmir reorganized their pencils, papers, books, and even his satchel, humming some strange old tune under his breath.
Still no Lovino.
He considered reading a book. An actual book. Like a fictional book. He hadn't read one since his week-long hospital visit several months prior. The more he thought about it, though, the sick feeling only a hospital can bring about came back, so he abandoned the thought.
And then the doors swung open.
"You're late."
3rd PERSON SAMPLE 2:
He only noticed the man when he moved.
But he didn't bother to do anything in acknowledgement. Vladmir just continued shoving food into his mouth as quickly and politely as he could. Every few bites he would stop to chew, then swallow, and every several of those chews and swallows, he would swish all of it down with his water. It was a pretty organized deal. Bite, bite, bite, chew, swallow, repeat, then drink; and so on.
The Romanian paused once he had finally finished a good three quarters of his food, drinking a bit more water and wiping his mouth before finally turning to look at the man seated next to him. The first thing that Vlad noticed, was that he had to look up to see the man's face. That was strange, Vladmir had never fancied himself a short man, but looking over at this other person, Vova estimated that his eye level came up only to around the man's chin.
Hardly fair.
"Ah, sorry, I did not see you there at first. I was a bit rushed, as you could probably see."
Vladmir chuckled, smoothing the back of his hair a bit, not seeming at all like he noticed that he could have possibly annoyed the other man, no, he seemed like he was... happy? Not for any particular reason... just... happy.
